The policy aims to ensure easily accessible and adequate supply of safe and quality blood and blood components collected/procured from non-remunerated regular blood donor in well-equipped premises, which is free from TTIs and is stored and transported under optimum conditions.

The main aim of this notification is to make abundant availability of whole human blood or its components without taking license. However, this exemption is applicable to those centres, which are transfusing blood and/or its components less than 2000 units in a year.
